On a beautifully sunny day in April wedding professionals from all over the state filled the new halls of NOAH’s of Charlotte to participate in a wedding. Only this time, the couple was already married, the guests were strangers, and goal was to connect engaged couples to local wedding vendors. Together, a group of hopeless romantics and creative spirits worked to create a magical day that celebrated real marriage and supported small business. Sure, the wedding was fake, but the passion and commitment to the cause that day was so real.

So I know I’ve been talking about this event for months now, but that’s only because it was such a game-changer for me! If you follow my instagram at all, you saw that last week marked the one year anniversary of my move to Charlotte and the choice I had to make early on. Since then, I had known that I needed to connect with local wedding vendors so I could incorporate myself more into the HUGE market of Charlotte if I was going to survive. But that’s so much easier than it sounds. Like um yes, hello, you do weddings, I do weddings, wanna be friends? So awkward!! So when the Big Fake Wedding reached out to me about participating in their Charlotte event, I was stoked!! I would be able to meet local vendors, participate in a giant styled shoot, and meet local engaged couples. Sign. Me. Up. Well, long story short, 5 minutes before I called to confirm another photographer had snagged the last spot. But somehow, the stars aligned and a week before the event they called me to let me know that the spot was available again if I wanted it. Boom! I was in! And y’all, holy moly was the day not the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen! Not only was the BFW staff FANTASTIC but the vendors knocked it out of the park and brought the major wow factor to the day. It made my job SO much easier, and just look at this couple. I can’t. They were so preciously in love and beautiful that I literally could not stop photographing them. This event was over a month ago and my heart is still exploding with joy over it. Did I mention that we got published because of it? Ruffled blog did a post from the event and it was so amazing to see my work on another blog but my own for the first time! What a magical day.
