Southern wedding photographer for the fleeting moments that make life worth living. This blog is the home for some of my favorite things — from weddings, engagement sessions & more personal things.

Pull up a chair and stay a while, won't you?

What a day!! Emma Jo & Max got married last Friday in a stunning hilltop ceremony in front of their family & friends! It was the most beautiful spring wedding with lots of happy tears and laughter! They couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the rest of their lives together as Mr. & Mrs. Smoot! Congratulations to the happy couple!

So I actually met Emma Jo last January when I mentored her as she kick started her photography business! She’s been doing great in her business, so when she asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was thrilled! Every photographer knows how nerve wracking it is to photograph another photographer because you want to live up to the vision they clearly have! But I also knew that, as a photographer, Emma Jo would go above and beyond for the details in her wedding and I was right! It was so much fun to photograph!

The thing that stood out to me the most during the wedding day were the families of both the bride and the groom, and how deeply their parents care for them and their now spouse. One of my favorite moments was just before Emma Jo walked down the aisle and she was walking down the big driveway with her grandpa & step-dad. Her mom couldn’t see, so she joined Max’s parents to peer over the guests to get a peek at her girl. Then Max’s dad gave a knowing and loving nod to his son just before Emma Jo appeared at the top of the aisle. It was a small but powerful acknowledgement that this was it; the moment that his son would become a husband and he had the support & love of his parents on this journey ahead. That love & support from all those who love them was so evident throughout the wedding day and it was such an honor to witness the union of the most precious souls!
