Picture a perfect mountain wedding filled with sentimental details, family traditions, and lots of love. That’s what Hannah & Michael’s wedding was like this past weekend as they tied the knot at her family’s mountain property. After years of building a life together, these two finally came together as husband & wife during a wedding that no one will forget. “Thankful thankful thankful” was said many times by the bride and her family, and thankful thankful thankful I am to have captured their big day.

Hannah had talked to me many times about the “property” that is home to a few cabins, two ponds, and rolling fields off the Blue Ridge Parkway. But nothing could prepare me for the beauty I found when I arrived at their Thunderhill paradise. It was so clear why they had chosen to get married on this sacred land. If you’re familiar at all with the parkway between Boone and Blowing Rock, you’ve probably visited the coveted Thunderhill overlook. On one side is an expansive view of the mountains, and on the other side is another view of rolling green fields and mountains. That view overlooks their property, and that’s where Hannah & Michael saw each other for the very first time on their wedding day.

I arrived at the overlook to get Michael in position to see his bride, and the man couldn’t even talk he was so nervous!! His emotions were all over his face, and you could see that he was so anxious to see and hold his soon-t0-be wife. As Hannah approached, hopping over a fence I might add, she walked up to him and rested her hands on this back. He took a sigh of relief and turned to see her. And y’all, I’ve never seen anything more beautiful than Michael taking one look at her and sobbing into her embrace. It was so pure and precious!

Before we knew it, the guests had arrived, and it was time for the ceremony! Under the canopy of tall trees, Hannah & Michael were announced as husband & wife in front of their most favorite people! Passages were read and songs sung by those closest to the couple, and the rings were warmed by the hands of their parents to bless their marriage. Their love for one other was so clear on that day, but so was their unending friendship and adoration. Their joyous smiles never ceased throughout the day and the celebration rang on into the night. From a table of family photos and beer named after the overlook, to her Grandmother’s gold shirt clip and her mother’s veil that the bride wore, the day was filled with heart-felt details. It was a day like no other and it’s one that we will never forget.
