Southern wedding photographer for the fleeting moments that make life worth living. This blog is the home for some of my favorite things — from weddings, engagement sessions & more personal things.

Pull up a chair and stay a while, won't you?

Stephanie & Chris got married last weekend at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with a reception at the Penninsula Yatch Club! The bride was glowing with beauty and  joy as she walked to her husband-to-be who’s tear-filled eyes were fixed on her. They danced the night away with their family & friends while the sun set beautifully over Lake Norman!

Oh my goodness y’all I just love this sweet couple SO much! Stephanie and Chris actually live in DC so I didn’t get a chance to take their engagement portraits, but I met them in the craziest way! I was actually shooting in uptown Charlotte one day doing another engagement session when a random woman stopped me and asked for my card! She told me her son was getting married and that I looked like I was having a great time and doing a good job! It’s one of those moments when you don’t ever anticipate to hear from them again, so I was so shocked when Marie’s future daughter-in-law, Stephanie, contacted me for more information! I just loved that Marie brought us together and introduced me to this sweet pair. After dating for over seven years and being engaged for a year, they’re finally husband and wife!!

Emotions were high from the very beginning of the day as they prepared to head to the church for the ceremony! And before they knew it, she was in her dress wearing her sister’s veil that her mother had made. One of my favorite shots is the one when her dad is waiting to walk her down the aisle. Everyone has processed down and she comes out of the bridal suite in the church and he bursts into tears. Moments like that are lifelong memories that are now preserved in time. What a gift! More happy tears were shed as she walked down to her love in the beautiful church and they vowed themselves to each other forever! One of my favorite parts of their ceremony was one that completely surprised me. Perhaps it’s common in Catholic ceremonies but I had never seen this practice before. They took a break halfway through the ceremony and people exchanged kisses and greetings to one another, and the couple came down to kiss and greet their family. It was such a cool way of acknowledging their presence during the ceremony! And just like that, they’re married and it was time to party!!

And man was it a party!! Marie brought all of her friends onto the dance floor and they partied harder than the wedding party! From oldies to Justin Bieber, the dance floor was never empty thanks to the DJ magic of Jenny at Snapdragon! Another favorite moment was seeing the groom and his brother dance with their mom throughout the evening. She raised her boys as a single mother and the love that they have for her is so special. She was either beaming with joy or crying the sweetest happy tears throughout the whole day, and was so thankful to be adding to her family once more.

It is such an amazing opportunity to witness people’s most special day and to get to know their sweet families during the process, and this day was no different! People gathered out of love to celebrate love, and what a lovely day it was. Congratulations to Stephanie & Chris, we wish you all the happiness in the world!!
